Communities!

There are three distinct types of communities:  rural, suburban and urban.  Each of these communities have specific characteristics that set them apart form the others.  There are many reasons why a community changes over time from new advancements in healthcare, more modernized transportation, and changing job opportunities.   Below is the form that was referred to on the home page.  I hope you enjoy your travels!

Citizenship

As we head back to school the students will be studying citizenship.  Citizenship is the duties, obligations and functions of a person who is a member of a group of society.  Several citizens that we will be studying are:

- George Washington


- Abraham Lincoln


- Susan B. Anthony


- Helen Keller


- Jackie Robinson


- Martin Luther King Jr.
The qualities of citizenship that we will be focusing on are:
- Respecting and protecting the rights and property of others
- Taking part in the voting process when making classroom decisions
- Describing actions that can improve the school and community
- Demonstrating self-discipline and self-reliance;
- Practicing honesty and trustworthiness.

Take the time to learn about each of the citizens listed above.  Then create a poster or student book matching each of the above citizens to the specific citizenship quality that he or she represented most.
